Volunteer Training and Orientation Sessions:
All volunteers must complete a volunteer application, a release of liability form, and attend a training and orientation session before working with animals at the shelter. The next scheduled sessions are:
Date and Time TBD: - Cat Room Training and Orientation will be held at San Martin Animal Shelter. If you would like to attend, please contact Brigid Wasson at 686-3901.
Date and Time TBD - Dog Handlers Training and Orientation will be held at the San Martin Animal Shelter. If you would like to attend, please contact Brigid Wasson at 686-3901.
Volunteer Schedule for the Cat Room at San Martin Animal Shelter: Please call or e-mail Brigid Wasson at (408) 686-3901 or Brigid.Wasson@aem.sccgov.org if you would like to sign up (or to change your time slot). Volunteers are urgently needed on weekends from noon to 4:30 pm. This is a very small room and it can get pretty crowded with potential adopters, shelter staff and volunteers in there, so there is a two-person volunteer limit. Your scheduled time in the Cat Room can help potential adopters decide which cat is right for them, and you may be able to help place some of the adults or long-term residents, too. As always, volunteers will also give them some play-time out of their cages, light grooming, socialization, petting and chin-rubs and will be rewarded with some purrs and happier cats.
Kitten
Season is Here Again
The shelter will soon be inundated with surrendered
kittens and cats. At this time we would like to get as many of these
homeless kitties into loving foster homes that can socialize and
care for these waifs. Please contact our cat foster coordinator, if you have space in your home and your heart.
Are
Dogs More your Cup of Tea?
We
still need knowledgeable fosters for dogs and puppies. Fostering
dogs is a bit more involved, so please speak to our volunteer
coordinator and dog expert Marie
Lundborn to see how you can help.
