******************* Our primary goal is to lower the euthanasia rate at the shelter. We can accomplish this goal by increasing adoptions, growing our volunteer program and providing information and financial support for local spay and neuter programs. Thank You for Helping FOSMAS Save Stormy 05/20/09 UPDATE: Stormy is finally available for adoption! Sadly, her leg had to be amputated despite the best efforts of all of her doctors. The metal plate and bone graft were successful, but her tendons and ligaments were just too badly damaged. She has adapted wonderfully to life as a 3-legged cat, and needs a permanent, loving, indoor-only home. For now, she must be an "only child." Could you be her new mom or dad? . 8/17/08 UPDATE: Stormy is doing well in her foster home and getting plenty of care and love, but has still not been released for adoption yet. She has some swelling in her leg, which is being monitored by our priceless Dr. Peggy Young, D.V.M. We hope to see improvement in that leg soon, and to see her go to a loving, forever home shortly. See her incredible x-rays and recent photo at the end of this column. 4/30/08: Dr. Jim Roush, DVM (and a board-certified orthopedic surgeon) performed surgery on Stormy's leg. Dr. Peggy Young, DVM and FOSMAS President, attended. Dr. Roush inserted a metal plate and performed a bone graft. The x-rays are posted below. Our thanks and gratitude to Dr. Roush and to Dr. Young; and also to Dr. Nancy Fisher of Princevalle Animal Hospital in Gilroy for the use of their surgical facilities. This wonderful little kitten was shot with a BB gun and has multiple injuries - read her story by clicking here => Save Stormy .Thank you to all of our wonderful supporters who donated to Stormy's Fund and made her surgeries possible. We have many other animals like Stormy, with special needs (and costs) for veterinary or surgical care. Your continued support will allow us to save them. We rely on angels like you to help us perform these small miracles - and together, we do!
